Las Posadas and the 'O Antiphons'
Las Posadas (the inns) is an Advent celebration traditionally celebrated in Mexico during the 9 days before Christmas. It symbolizes Mary and Joseph’s long frustrating search for a place to stay in Bethlehem. We will be Celebrating the first night of Las Posadas on Monday, December 16th from 6 to 8 PM in the basement at St Joseph’s Church. We will also hear the "O" Antiphons. The Roman Church has been singing the "O" Antiphons since at least the eighth century. They are the antiphons that accompany the Magnificat canticle of Evening Prayer from December 17-23. All are welcome to share in this celebration of prayers and song. We will have a pot luck so please bring a favorite dish to pass.
Divine Providence Academy and St. Joseph parish welcomed the community to the grand opening celebration of our new infant and toddler childcare center (Little Wings) and parish offices. The celebration and open house began after the 11:00 AM Mass on Sunday, December 8th. The dedication and ribbon cutting took place in front of the building at 12:15 PM by the students of DPA. Then, we moved inside as Father Fred blessed the new office space and the child care center. Everyone was invited to explore the beautiful new building. Refreshments and light snacks were served. This project has been several years in the making and we were glad you could come and share in this exciting day!
